History of AutoCAD
AutoCAD originated in a program called Distant Manipulator, which was the work of programmer Don L. Robins and graphic designer George Van Wagenen. Van Wagenen was involved with a multi-user “Operator & Draftsman” CAD system called DISCAD, which is described in an AutoCAD support bulletin. Distant Manipulator worked on a time-sharing mainframe computer running CP/M, allowing several users to share a single terminal. The success of Distant Manipulator led Van Wagenen and Robins to begin work on a follow-up system, which they named AutoCAD. The initial version of AutoCAD was released in December 1982.
AutoCAD was developed as a desktop application running on microcomputers with internal graphics controllers. AutoCAD’s initial release was on the Apple II series of computers, with later releases available for the Apple IIgs, IIe, and IIcx. Additional platforms were later added for DOS, Atari 8-bit family, Apple Macintosh, IBM OS/2, and Windows (from version 1.0). AutoCAD was initially released for the Apple II, Apple IIgs, IIe, and IIcx computer lines as a single application. With each hardware release, the software was adapted to work with the new computer’s internal graphics display hardware.
By the mid-1990s, AutoCAD had become a successful product, outselling the next largest player, Creo 3D (a competing DGN (drafting) CAD system), which at the time was $99,000. AutoCAD was later ported to DOS and the Macintosh. In 1994, a file format conversion utility (exchanging a file from one format to another) was released by Autodesk.
In 1997, AutoCAD was also released as a web-based application for Microsoft Windows.

Users may customize their program by modifying the settings, preferences, and built-in libraries. Custom modifications to the program may be created and stored in separate files or folders. These modifications may be configured to be loaded on startup.
AutoCAD 2000 was created to compete with the industry leader of the day, Dassault Systemes’ CATIA. The first release of AutoCAD was on October 13, 1994, and was named AutoCAD Rev. 2.0. It did not include 3D tools, but this was added in AutoCAD 2000, along with an updated user interface and other features. AutoCAD is similar to the software package R2000/R2010.
The main aim of the AutoCAD development team is to provide designers with a comprehensive, robust, and feature-rich program to create 2D and 3D designs. The program is accessible to a broad range of users, from those who do not have a programming background to students, architects, engineers and other professionals with varying levels of technical knowledge.
Since its early releases, AutoCAD has received numerous updates, including new features, multiple versions, and a new look. The program has become more powerful over the years, but is still easy to use. AutoCAD 2012 was released at the end of 2011. AutoCAD 2012 features a new user interface, new effects, and enhanced rendering capabilities. In addition, 3D features were added to this version. Some features of the earlier versions were incorporated into this release, such as the ability to open and save a DXF file.
Currently, AutoCAD is offered in two versions: AutoCAD LT and AutoCAD LT 2018. These versions are primarily aimed at students, but can also be used by other professionals. Although there are many minor differences between the two, one of the main differences between the two is that LT is a stand-alone program, but LT 2018 is a program that can be run on top of AutoCAD LT.
The basic unit of the program is the block. These blocks are used to create symbols, text, drawing elements, and other objects.
In AutoCAD, blocks are arranged in hierarchies. This structure enables the user to organize blocks into different layers or groups. Layers and groups can be made by the user for organization purposes, or by the program during the creation of a drawing.
Drawing layers contain blocks in a specified

If this didn’t work and you have the original disc:
Please re-install Windows. If you have the same setup, just insert the original disc (click the Windows install DVD on the desktop) and it will detect your existing installation and add it to the Windows 8 list of existing installations to be reinstalled. The system will do the work.
Where’s the Post-Death World?
October 24, 2003
You could be forgiven if you think about death and afterlife in two distinct categories: the afterlife is where you’re going to be when you die, and the afterlife is what you will be doing in heaven. But both notions are part of the same concept, the idea of the afterlife. The differences are semantic: the first category, the one where you are when you die, is clearly for the most part composed of the sleeping, the dead, the corpses, and the formerly living. It is a place of almost silent, calm, quiet, no motion, no activity. In its current physical form, the body, death is a state of rest. The second, the afterlife, is a state of activity, a place where we live forever.
Over the course of the nineteenth century, the ideas of the afterlife and the dead underwent profound shifts in the public mind. A funeral home in St. Louis, Mo., offers a tour of the institution, from the basement where they store embalmed corpses, to the chapel where they hold services for the deceased, to the rooms where they conduct research on diseases. Next to the chapel is the crematorium, where in a year and a half one hundred bodies burn. The view is beautiful: stone walls, ivy, a blue, soothing sky. The crematorium would have looked like this long before the notion of hell became popular.
The idea of the hereafter came about in part to explain away the religious behaviors of the dead. They were no longer subject to the forces of the divine, because they were no longer alive. We bury our dead because we don’t want to see them under the ground any longer. We don’t want them to stink up the room and invade our space. We don’t want to have to see them in their current physical state, surrounded by the decomposing corpses of their companions. We want to send them
What’s New In AutoCAD?
With Zebra Markup, your drawings will stand out from the crowd with its full support for materials and 3D geometry (video: 4:00 min.).
