The present invention relates to a method for the establishment of a network between a plurality of individual databases. The method is based on a wired mode of data exchange and on the use of a packet structure which carries information to be included within the data packet. In addition, the invention relates to a system for carrying out the method.
2. Description of the Prior Art
A particular problem which arises when establishing a connection between a plurality of individual databases can be found in the situation where such a connection can be used only for the exchange of information or data and not for the communication of commands. Consequently, there are prior-art devices for data exchange between a plurality of individual databases which are based on a wired mode of data exchange. On the transmitting side, a data packet is generated and sent to a specific location on the receiving side. The data packet comprises the address and other information concerning the data which are to be transmitted. The data are transmitted by the data packet which is coded and arrives at the receiving end. This method is suitable for the transmission of large amounts of data, in particular data that must be processed in a certain format.
One disadvantage of the above-described prior-art method can be found in that there is a substantial delay in the transmission of data due to the length of time necessary to transmit the information item in a single packet. Another disadvantage of such a prior-art method is that if a data packet is lost during transmission, there is an immediate transition to the identification of the lost data. This immediate transition is made possible by such prior-art systems in that such a method is based on a wired mode of data exchange. As can be seen, such a method is also based on a fixed sequence of data communications which has the effect of delaying all data in the event
